Open from the end of November to the beginning of May, Val Thorens is the highest resort in Europe and sits at the summit of Les 3 Vallées, the largest ski area in the world with over 600km of pistes, 334 marked runs and nearly 200 ski lifts.

The village, situated at an altitude of 2,300 metres, was created in 1971 when exceptional natural surroundings met visionary pioneers in the Belleville valley, with the aim of offering quality alpine tourism based around an innovative, very high-altitude ski area. Val Thorens acquired an international reputation with its high-tech facilities, including the Caron ski lift, which opened in 1982 and was the largest in the world at the time.

Today, Val Thorens is an international resort with worldwide recognition: it has won the title of World's Best Resort 6 times at the WORLD SKI AWARDS since 2013.
